Sacraments

Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on 2 Sundays of each month at 2:00 p.m. Parents and godparents are to attend an instruction which is given every second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

Confirmation
The parish 2 year program for Public School Children begins in the Fall each year.

Reconciliation (First Confession)
Public School Children are invited to be prepared for this sacrament of God's mercy through a parish program that begins in the Fall.

Eucharist (First Communion)
It is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children are prepared for the Eucharist. This means primarily the example of the parent's own sharing in the Eucharist. It also means that the children have some formal instruction, such as the first two years of the Canadian Catechism.

Our parish program of preparation for Public School children for first Communion begins with registration in the Fall.

Marriage
Couples planning to be married must contact a priest one year in advance. They must also receive personal preparation for entering marriage.

If either party has previously gone through any form of civil or religious marriage with another
person, the priest is not permitted to set a date for the wedding until the Bishop's office has been consulted.

Sacrament of the Sick and Holy Communion to Shut-Ins
The Sacrament of the Anointing is the celebration of Christ's healing touch for people who are
seriously ill. If you know someone who is ill, we invite you to call the priest at the beginning of the illness.

Ordination
The Church "ordains" certain people to be leaders of the community, for institutions, parishes,
dioceses. As well, God calls certain people to dedicate their lives to the living out of the Gospel within communities. Periodically, we invite people to consider a "vocation" to the religious life, the diaconate or the priesthood (presbyterate). If anyone is interested in obtaining further information or direction in deciding a vocation, please call the parish office.

Commissioning (A Sacramental)
The Church also commissions certain people to be leaders of the community as ministers of the Eucharist, the Word, Caregivers and of Hospitality. If you are interested in serving this community in any of these "ministries", please call the parish office. The normal term is two years, but can be extended.
