Due to some ongoing issues with the adoration chapel we have decided to implement a new security system. In the near future the Chapel will be locked after a certain hour in the evening and you will require a security code in order to enter. For those of you who are signed up and on the chapel schedule you will be contacted with the details and your code. If you are not on the regular chapel schedule but do wish to visit in the evening you can obtain a code by contacting the parish office and filling in the correct forms. These forms will become available in the first week of December. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you but can assure you that in the long run we will all be happier with this new system in place.

Pastoral references Sacrament Information For All Schools

It is the time of year when education students are looking for Pastoral References to apply as teachers in the Catholic School Boards. These Pastoral References are essential, if you are to teach in the Catholic Board. The reference, asks the Parish Priest to attest to the practice of the Catholic Faith of the candidate. This includes the areas of Faith Practice- are you going to church on Sunday, are you registered in the Parish that you attend and are you receiving the Sacraments on a regular basis. Involvement- (e.g. are you a lector, involved in the Youth Group, Children’s Liturgy of The Word, etc.) Catholic Background-Attitudes and Disposition to serve catholic education positively. It is essential that I be able to speak to all of these areas, and so if I can’t, then I will not be compelled to complete any Pastoral Reference Forms simply because you approach me. We need in our schools, teachers who take seriously their faith. Teachers, who participate in it, celebrate it, and are willing to be able to transmit that to their students. The fact that you graduated from a Catholic School, and have received the sacraments of the church, does not qualify you to be a teacher in our schools. If you plan to approach me for this reference, please make sure that all of these criteria are covered, if they are not then I will not be completing and signing your form. Fr. John Facey

Since the beginning of the school year we have received numerous calls in regards to sacraments for this year. If you child is going to make either their First Communion or their Confirmation in 2010 the parish will send home information through the school advising you of the appropriate dates and any information in regards to preparation for these sacraments. For those of you who are not aware the way it usually happens is there will be an information meeting for parents held here in the church. For the children in grade 2 who are preparing for First Communion there is a First Eucharist Meeting scheduled for February 1st, 2010 at 7:00pm in the church. All information in regards to first communion as well as dates will be given at this meeting. The parish will send home information through the school at the appropriate time. As for Confirmation there is a meeting to be held here in the church on February, 8th, 2010 at 7:00pm. All information in regards to confirmation will be given at this meeting. No Dates will be Given Prior to this Meeting!! As well the parish will once again send home a letter through the school at the appropriate time. Please do not call the parish office requesting dates for first communion or confirmation as we will not have any of this information until the meeting occurs. We look forward to seeing all of our parents at the information evenings !!!
